4 stars It may be valid to say that Stanley Clarke's compositions lack song writing acumen. But this is his best release featuring several songs with punchy rhythms and a hook. Once you've heard it some of the licks will stick in your head and you won't forget them. The songs in this album embody the essence of Stanley Clarke. For fusion fans this is a must have album. You're also getting the touch of Jan Hammer. His playing isn't overly busy which can be typical of many jazz compositions. Overall the music has distinctive instrument sounds, featuring Stanley Clarke's bass and Jan Hammer's keyboards. The combination gives listeners a sound that rock fans would soak up.
