3 stars GOOD! Just by the compositions. The audio is not good and now we can do too much better than this show. This is the last show with BERNARD on bass.Is just a register of a poor show with a poor audio, I think so! But the compositions still are inspired for me. After our new album Chess board (2004-december)we will make a really ALIVE album.Too much better than this!without overdubs too.OK? André Mello (Tempus Fugit- vocals and keys)BRASIL [email protected]

p.s. Alexandre Moreira, thanks YOU so much!OBRIGADO!! Listen; "O Dom de Voar" too! (from the second album)

3 stars Most of the songs featured on this live set (seven out of ten) come from their first album which was a collection of jewel of melodic and wonderfully symphonic tracks. I must say that this live recording doesn't really reflect this.

The first real bad point is the sound quality. Funny enough, the leader of the band (André Mello - keys and vocals) has reviewed this CD as well (it was the only review with comments about this album before this one). He also mentions this "characteristic" as well as the band was preparing a new album but since the date of his post (April 2004) and today nothing came out. Strange and sad, because this band released such good albums that it would have been good news to get some new stuff from them...

Anyway, this album is absolutely not essential. The unreleased track "O Desafío" is a good instrumental song (as most of their numbers are : either full instrumental or strongly intrumental-oriented). Very pleasant keyboards (another of their characteristic) but guitar work also stands out.

André also mentions that they would release another live album, much better than this one. This is all I would wish. But such a long time has passed now that I am rather sceptic that this will happen. Unfortunately.

"Tempus Fugit" opened for Rick Wakeman during his Brazilian shows to promote "Return to the Centre of the Earth". They were also invited to "Prog Baja" in 2000 (orgaized by the good Mexican band "Cast") but couldn't make it because of lacking funds...Life is not always easy for such bands. A sad story...

You should Concentrate on their studio work which is excellent. Even if I rated both with four stars, my preferred one is their debut album " Tales From a Forgotten World". On this live album, my fave is "The Goblin's Trail".

Three stars for this well-named "Official Bootleg".

2 stars 1999 was truly a great year for this Brazilian prog band.Alongside with their first two studio albums(with quite a comercial impact, considering their overall style)they released this bootleg,Tempus Fugit Live, which, unfortunately, fails in any atempt of impressing due to an awfull sound quality.I mean,it is really bad, specially for a live album, where the recording quality is always an important factor.

It would be unfair to take away 3 stars for this alone, but flaws are not limited to the sound quality:despite the very nicely done instrumental sections(thankfully, their all quite long),the vocal-driven pieces could be dismissed without any hesitation at all.In fact ,it would be very healthy to themselves if this band decided to cut out any vocals from their arrangements, having in mind that some quiet passaages(from what you can here in the recording)are unbelievably beautifull,as it is in the mid-section of The City and the Crystal, and in the intro of War God.Something that is also quite noticeable is the overall bad percussion in the album, taking away some of the brightness in the arrangements. So being,I'm very secure in saying that the best moments are those in which the keyboards softly sing in harmony with the holding guitar notes, without drums or vocal permormances.

Some moments of tear-splattering beauty save this album from a one-star rating, considering there is one last factor that bothers me in a major way:A screaming pomposity throughout all of the album's lenght, which goes away only in little bits spread here and there.'War God'? 'Princess Vanessa'? That alone would already be ridiculous, but nothing comes near the terrible impression left in the album's intro,in which a narrated tale from the 'forgotten world' is told in portuguese by the band's lead singer. It always makes me eager to burst out laughing, because, unless you're quite familiar with the language(and speak it in your day-to-day routine),you have no idea of how dull and childish is this.I'm better of with Peter Gabriel's stories, thank you very much.
