Progressive Biography

My experience of Progressive Rock started at a young age (6-7) listening to my older brother (16) playing over and over again 2 records : In The Court Of The Crimson King and The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway. Can a kid forget this ? Well, I didn't. Of course, I didn't really pay attention but I knew the tunes and some lyrics by heart at the time.
My early teenage years were spent listening to the radio and the top 40. My brother had left home at the time... until he came back and said :"Why do listen to this b...s... ? Try this instead !" He made me listen to Santana and The Eagles, Led Zeppelin. And I discovered a whole new world of classic rock.
After a couple of years, at the age of 18, I decided to go to the public library and borrow all the albums (vinyls) I could...
Then I met a guy during my studies who mentioned Caravan and Camel. I had never heard of them before. That's when I got interested in Prog Rock without even knowing it was called that way !
The only references I had was the Musea catalog but I couldn't really go far with that and felt depressed, even lonely.... Was it possible that progressive rock had died ? Or was it still alive somewhere...
I then I discovered Marillion, Pendragon and IQ in the 80s.
And then the 90s came and Anglagard made my day !!!! I also discovered the Italian progressive scene... probably better than the others... Ah, PFM, Banco and Le Orme and all the others... This is bliss !!!
Never forgetting my first "love", Genesis and King Crimson, I'm interested in all the genres possible that gravitate around Progressive Rock and thank the inventor of Internet for giving me a means of getting information about the music I love and meeting other fans...
As you can see, I try to write reviews for bands that haven't had any yet.
