Got into prog when I was about 9 years old. My brother was (still is) a big Dream Theater fan. Had all their CDs and everything, as well as another band, Liquid Tension Experiment and lastly Symphony X. I liked what I heard. It was different, interesting, new most of all. I started to listen to them too, much to my brother's pleasant surprise. It...stayed that way for awhile. Me not branching out to find other bands, nevermind prog bands. Sure, I liked the odd SoaD or Tool song, but that was about it. Then, I stumbled across a little band called Porcupine Tree. Heard The Sound of Muzak and I haven't turned back since. Quickly I discovered the incredible depths of prog music, like YES, Opeth, Ayreon, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Pain of Salvation and most of all KING CRIMSON. Dream Theater? Well, I still like them, but everything seems a little stale after listening to other bands now. Plus, I HAVE realized their song writing is not too hot. Still good stuff though.

Since this is a prog site, I'll exclude my metal favorites from the list.

And sometimes my reviews might contradict themselves, but I usually fix that because sometimes I say things, then hear a new album or an album I missed and write a review saying it's their best. Then I gotta change the other review. Whatever.
