Progressive Biography

How do You do,
I have been participating to this site earlier as both prog reviewer and member of the Psychedelic / Space Rock team. Currently I'm trying to help the site more generally with my reduced online capacity by band suggestions, artist inclusions, database edits, and with very slow progress of album reviewing.

From my more active days of writing here, my focus seems to have shifted towards activities with the local people I have given privilegie to meet in real life. How lovely to adore all their beautiful works and support these lovely hippies charming art projects. In addition of spinning the albums of global big names, I encourage You to try unlearn unneccesary restrains of genre fences, learn to meet the artists from Your own area's underground scene, and find enriching experiences. On basis of my travels on continental Europe, I am certain this activity is blossoming everywhere, but just being hidden by shadows of larger mainstream entertainment entities. Could mention some own local favourite bands listed on this site: Aalto (psych/etno/folk), Avarus ("beer-kraut"), Dark Sun (space rock), Dasputnik (space rock), Inner Light Orchestra ("regressive rock"), Juudas Iskariotin Suudelma (psych/etno/fusion), Kosmos (psych/folk), Octopus Syng (60's Floyd/Streng influenced), Positive Wave (vivid hippie charms), Temples (heavy space/stoner), Tuima (etno/fusion), Tuliterä (cosmic heavy prog), Tuvalu (spacey&accessibe heavy prog), Utu (personal art rock) and Vitkaste (electro/acoustic awesomeness).

Most of my spare time goes to development of my own drawings, within the solace of my candle-illuminated studio. If you should have any interest for illustrations with my style to a poster, flyers, album covers or such, please take contact.

Pyromancer

I still yearn to learn further about art music, underground rock acts, high culture productions along with all other forms of human expression from a larger perspective, hoping this granting both wider vision to the world and deeper understaning of my own subconsciousness. Truly I have concluded the fascination on arts may often being one of the easists channels for self-exploration and development, as one mirrors him- or herself to the reflections on these cultural entities jarring our emotions and intellect.

In addition of album reviews, I have written to a local prog rock magazine Colossus, and crafted few essays from concerts experiences of the local venues to the web here and also little there:
Psychotropic Caravan Warm-Up at Helsinki, Nosturin alakerta - 4th Feb 2011 (in Finnish) - CMX at Helsinki, Tavastia - 4th Dec 2010 - DASPUTNIK & THIS IS SIRIUS at Lahti, Torvi - 30th Sep 2010 - UFOMAMMUT at Helsinki, Kuudes Linja - 8th Sep 2010 - TUVALU & ANGELICA KULT at Helsinki, Semifinal - 27th Aug 2010 - MARILLION at Helsinki, Tavastia - 6h Nov 2009 - DUNGEN, PLAIN RIDE; OCTOPUS SYNG ALIVE at Helsinki, Tavastia - 21st Feb 2009 - PEKKA STRENG tribute at Helsinki, Tavastia - 4th Feb 2009 - An evening with UZVA at Helsinki, Semifinal - 4th Apr 2007 - TASAVALLAN PRESIDENTTI at Helsinki, Savoy - 13th Nov 2006 - PROCOL HARUM at Helsinki, Kulttuuritalo - 1st Nov 2006

I hope You enjoy my subjective but most honest reviews, which I believe are mostly a method for searching myself and learning further about the myriad pathways of life, rather than doing academic study on progressive rock history. I personally do not often consider classifications of music interesting, only the exaltation from artistic entity experienced. I however see some loose genre definitions making it easier to find something new to listen, if spotted anything interesting.

I wish You would find both music and deepper wisdom of kindness - from this site and anywhere else too, allowing You the sensation of enlightenment and granting perspection towards vaster heights than the ordinary obligations of our everyday life usually offers / "A path that never ends"
