Progressive Biography

I love music, all genres and styles of music with the exception of a select few (Hip Hop and Rap are certainly not my thing), but progressive music - no matter what the influences or categorizations just as long as the music is progressive in nature - you can be sure that's what I'll be listening too, most of the time.

Of course, my background is metal. I was born in the sixties so I grew up with Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Triumph, Pink Floyd, Supertramp, Yes, Genesis, Kansas, Marillion and then there was Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, Motorhead, Pantera, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Helloween before Therion, Dream Theater, Symphony X and Opeth came into focus for me.

Nowadays, with all the metal influences of the past, I seem to gravitate towards the heavier progressive metal bands...

Some of my FAV Progressive bands of the moment are:

Riverside
Opeth
Therion
Orphaned Land
Kamelot
Shadow Gallery
Adagio
Dream Theater
Porcupine Tree
Sieges Even

Some of my current FAV Progressive albums are: (Updated - June 2006)

"The Art of Navigating By the Stars" - Sieges Even
"Christ O" - Vanden Plas
"Room V" - Shadow Gallery
"Ghost Reveries" - Opeth
"Sirius B" - Therion
"Mabool" - Orphaned Land
"Second Life Syndrome" - Riverside
"Deadwing" - Porcupine Tree
"10,000 Days" - Tool
"The Great Cold Distance" - Katatonia
