Music was introduced to me at a very young age. My Mother was a classically trained pianist, and my Father (an old school sound man) had recordings of many of the shows he had worked. The first most profound influence came in the form of Beatles albums, left at our house by my Aunts. It was my first real exposure to rock (I was five), and became the high standard by which all others would be judged.

My Sister was a big Who fan, so "Tommy" and "Quadrophenia" were often coming through the speakers (she also made sure went to see "Tommy" in the movie theatre). My mother was cool enough to take us to "Jesus Christ Superstar," and we purchased the original album the next day. I had heard Pink Floyd, and the popular Yes tunes, but Genesis was the one that really got my attention. I was a cellist, so my foundation in classical was solid. It was astounding to hear something that combined the worlds of symphony and quality rock. My love of progressive music was born.

For a while, more discoveries were made, but the '70s were over. The last big prog revelation was Marillion. After that, it appeared to dry up. I then turned my attention to the better alternative artists of the time.

A few years ago, I discovered that prog was still alive, and I had missed quite a bit (both new and old). This led me to P.A. I had no idea the scope of prog had grown so large. My enthusiasm was rekindled. I now have interests in many different subgenres. Zeuhl, Avant, Italian, and Neo are but a few (the mystique of most Prog Metal still eludes me). Symphonic, however, remains my favorite.

I can be very opinionated, but I do try to keep an open mind. Don't take me too seriously, as I am also a bit of a joker. This is supposed to be fun, right? Above all, I am here to help. Drop me a P.M. me any time.
