METAMORPHOSIS

Good melodies, sweet vocals and good album cover............... so what's wrong ?

I have been listening to this album, trying to find out why it does neither makes my heart strings or my brain cells sing it's praise. The reason is that I have been listening to every other Magenta album. Albums I really like. But I frankly Magenta's formula a bit............... well, overused. What do we get here ?

Add some elements from the Corrs (yes, that annoying sweeter-than-honey wholesome family pop act from Ireland) and some heavy guitars. Then you have Metamorphosis. That and two short songs and two long songs. One strangely enough with a Norwegian title. Has Magenta jumped on the Norwegian Black Metal band wagon ? Probably not, but I think it is strange. In particular when this song is full of Irish instruments and influences of Irish folk music and The Corrs. Sorry, but you should check your maps better next time. OK, the song, Prekestolen, is a good song. It is a nice song. The same goes for the rest of this album.

Everything is nice here and Magenta is a wholesome band. It is impossible to dislike this album and this band. They are nice. Nice as in nice, meaning nice. For me, that is not enough.

I awaits their new live album with both trepidation and interest. I hope it is not a nice album.
