BE

Pain of Salvation has to be in my top ten bands of all time- but NOT because of this album. While I appreciate the thematic approach, I just don't feel it works. I am a huge fan of Dream Theater's concept album 'Scenes from a Memory" for one main reason- not the murder mystery, but the MUSIC. And I feel that when you pop in a CD- that's what you want to hear, MUSIC. Not talking, not the population of the world- or listening to some couple talk about who knows what. The Music on BE is seperated- and choppy throughout the album. BE obviously does have some great moments- but when you think its heading in a great musical direction, it slows down again- or you come to another boring 2/3 minute instrumental track that seems to be just filler. Some of you may be saying- "How many times have you listened to the album Kevin?" a handful of times- at 1st- yes, I was intreagued, but after a few more listens I have come to believe that this is a funky album by a GREAT band. Do not start here with POS. 2.5 stars.
