5 stars Being a fan of Death since the Spiritual Healing days, I watched Chuck develop his compositions, and changing his musicians to match them. On Symbolic Gene Hoglan is still on drums. Kelly Conlon on Bass and Bobby Koelble on Guitar joined the band. So the lineup changed once again.

Symbolic is the most focused Death album, and in my eyes their masterpiece. The production by Jim Morris in wonderful. Sharp, dry and full. Gene Hoglanīs drums sound so much better here than they did on Individual Thought Patterns. The compositions are just a touch better than the both Human and Individual Thought Patterns, even though Chuck still stuck to his formula. Highligts on the album include the title track and Crystal Mountain, but as on any Death album no song is a filler.

One of the best metal albums of all time. This one is highly recommendable.
