ODYSSEY INTO THE MIND'S EYE

Wow! What a privilege to be the FIRST reviewer of this GREAT DVD! Has a anyone else seen this DVD? Hard to believe it hasn't been reviewed yet.

Odyssey Into The Mind's Eye is one in a series of three animated films from Sony. Here's their titles and the featured musician:

First and foremost, something must be said about the animation/graphics for the Mind's Eye series: FIRST RATE! Absolutely magnificent ! I can go on and on about the attention to detail, the incredible imagination and flat-out artistic vision that these artists had when creating these videos. My words cannot do ANY justice to the quality of the animation. It must be seen to be appreciated.

That being said, the music is not too shabby either! :-)

What you have in Odyssey Into The Mind's Eye is KERRY LIVGREN creating some hard prog with lots of classic LIVGREN guitar riffs colored by assorted keyboards; MANY keyboards, actually. The drums are loud and in your face, reminiscent of stuff you'd hear on some metal albums, but without the omnipresent double bass drum.

Forkicks, I must include this quote taken from a less than favorable review from another site: It[the music to the video] was apparently written by a guitarist from the group Kansas but at any rate is pretty lackluster.

LOL! What the! by a guitarist from the group Kansas...enough said!

Ignorance aside, the music on this DVD/CD earns an easy FIVE stars. Featuring some classic heavy/symphonic prog by one of prog's all-time greats. If the price of the DVD scares you off($45 and up!), then the CD is a good alternative.
