1 stars Tool must have tried playing with the right hand while being left-handed. The few songs featured on this EP are horrible and puerile. You might not mind the weak production because generally bands cannot afford a good sound for their first record, but can someone explain me what is all the screaming relevant for? I agree with harsh vocals even in alternative rock, for instance I enjoy listening Korn's Life is Peachy, but I guess Opiate is just not made to sound well with such vocal interpretations.

Tool sounds far better on later recordings and every band has to start from the bottom sometimes not judging only by popularity, but also by quality. I don't not recommend this EP to anyone. It's progressiveness is not worth discussing because in the first place, I don't really know whether Opiate has much in common with music. There are only to positive aspects of the disc, one of them being some good seconds of music on one of the live tracks (don't ask me why, I couldn't stand playing the record more than once) and the fact that is NOT long. Thank God !!! In spite all this, I cannot consider it anything else but POOR.
