THE GRAND ILLUSION

When I was 23 years old I listened to this album on a loud stereo in my parents house while they were on vacation. With the assistance of strong doses of alcohol the effect of the music was beyond description. I don't recall the details, but it was a major mindfuck and seemed like something that could be included in drug-oriented art rock masterwork category (like Floyd). The songs spoke to my plight profoundly. I have that mysterious philosophical bent that makes me yearn for the adventure beyond. But my family's mojo is a lot like DeYoung's. He seems like a guy who could be my father.
