5 stars Is there anything to say about this album that hasn't been said already? Dream Theater; 'Scenes from a Memory', THE Progressive Metal album to own if there ever was one.

This is the album where Dream Theater had to prove to the record companies, the fans, and to themselves that they are worth a damn. And do they deliver or what?!

This is a concept album based around the story of a man who is a reincarnation of a girl who was murdered, and how he revisits his past life in his dreams when he sleeps. Overly ambitious and full of some of the most amazing musicianship you'll ever hear in this lifetime. This album took me quite a few listens to eventually get into it, but I guess that's the rewarding thing (or curse, if you will) when it comes to concept albums.

Newcomer to the band Jordan Rudess brings a whole new level of virtuosity to the group, with all the other members being on top of their game (as usual). Even if you're a Prog fan who doesn't really like Dream Theater's music this should be in your collection.

This album, along with 'Images and Words' (also by Dream Theater) are absolute must-haves for all Prog fans. No excuses.
