Emotional, atmospheric and wistful are probably the keywords when talking about this release from Anathema. I first listened to their music(Serenades) in '93 when I was in fact listening to some other kind of music. But they also did something different at that time.

For me this is probably their best effort so far. There is not a big amount of technical aspects which will impress you when you will listen to it Easy to swallow and listen continuously from the first song to the last one. It simply flows through my mind easily. Vincent Cavanagh voice is simply perfect for this kind of music. His brother Danny Cavanagh is the guy responsible with songwriting on this one. On Alternative 4 Duncan Patterson (the bass player which was replaced with Dave Pybus was responsible with songwriting). Important to mentioned the female voice(Lee Douglas) on - Parisienne Moonlight - and - Don't Look Too Far(by the way the last part of this song is probably the weakest part of this album). But there is no weak song in fact. I'm looking to this album as if it is a continuous beautiful song. When it is finished I simply feel some kind of regret. Anyway some highlights: Judgment and One Last Goodbye and the way the first 3 songs are flowing one after each other. You will feel also a floydian guitar on Emotional Winter which is very good even if so evidently influenced.

Probably this one doesn't deserve fully 5 stars but I cannot give less than this. Is too damn good to give it less than this. Be prepared for a mass of emotions to drown you. Highly recommended!
