'LIVING IN THE PAST'... LIVING IN THE PRESENT!This is my definitive sentence about 'Living In The Past'. That is a compilation but... That I classified as an album. And also if Lp and MC have 21 songs and CD only 19... I think that the final result not change! 'Living In The Past', for sure, is one of the best 'Best Of...' in the history of music. Eh, yes! This is because at those year (1972) Tull had produced a series of albums... All beautiful and with great songs to be selected! Then, except some exceptions, all 1967- 1972 albums have great songs with more or low magic, but all are remarkables. In Tull's case this is a great problem for the production of a simple compilation. And, in fact, 'Living In the Past' is not a simple compilation... But, with '20 Years Of Jethro Tull', the definitive Tull's compilation, better than an album, for me! 19 or 21 songs is not the true problem. Ok, I think that i have exaggerate. Or no? In every case 'Living In The Past' is a boombastic compilation already from the first song, a remarkable 'Song For Jeffrey'. Of course a must for all Tull fans. But not only for Tull fans! And 'Love Story' confirm all. I love also 'Living In The Past', a great Folk song. Because it is true, the Heavy Folk Rock of Tull is unique, magical, immortal... Extreme interesting is also 'Sweet Dream', a great decommitted song, as may be a song of Tull decommitted. Please me much also 'Singing All Day', a sort of Folk Jazz song... Also if 'By Kind permission Of' is pure Jazz! And 'Dharma For One' is a standard of Prog music (see also Ekseption's version!) and with a great terrorizer drum solo! 'Locomotive Breath'... I do not love the album version... 'Life Is A Long Song'... Well this is true... In every case another great Folk song. Please me many also 'Dr. Bogenbroom', a great Prog song very hard for sound, extremely bluesy and extremely catchy. And 'Nurse'? Also this song is a great song. In definitive I think that 'Living In The past' is a perfect compilation, better than a simple album. In other words I love this compilation proper because better than a simple Tull album. A good 'Living In The Past' listening is a great experience, perhaps with no surprise, but unique. And this experience is a life experience, for me!
