4 stars MAster of Puppets! Better than Ride the Lightning? I would say so. The songs are more developed, cleaner sounding, and the album as a whole is more focused, and has some very impressive moments.

Battery has the old acoustic intro, and a very good one, building up toards the unexpected erruption of guitar. A great aggressive thrash metal song. Master of Puppets is excellent, and one of the best things one this album. It contains a very good bridge and some excellent solos. The Thing that Should not Be is heavy and sludgey in the best sense possible. Welcome Home (Sanitarium) is a slower song that's not too exciting. Disposable Heroes more than makes up for this with its awesome powerfullness. Leper Messiah is an above average song. Orion is possibly the best song on the album: a progressive instrumental, with some very good bass parts. Damag Inc. is another fast angry piece that's very good but gets too repetitive.

Better than the two albums on either side of it , Master of the Puppets is very close to five stars, but just falls short.
