TÁNGER

Tanger is a town located in the Northern Morocco which once was under Spanish administration and the opening number is a perfect combination between these Oriental savours blended with the flamenco- rock style of music.

As in Árabe, this influence is rapidly leaving the place to a more classic pop-rock mood. But if you have been listening to several albums from Medina Azahara, you can have experienced this already; but since there are very few reviews for this band available on PA, I doubt that this aspect of their music is known.

Como Un Sueño and Solo Un Camino are typical rock songS: hard beat and excellent guitar work. Not too bad actually; I far much prefer the band in such an exercise than while I listen to the flat love ballads like Un Instante Junto A Tí, Regálate Una Estrella, Cuando se Pierde el Amor, Deja de Llorar, Solamente Mia. Most of these songs are full of bottom line lyrics as will, which only add to the press next feel.

It was time actually to integrate some Arab influence again in this album to cope with its title. Such is the case during El Lento Atardecer. But even if it might sound original, it is still far to be an attractive song. It is just an encouragement for the listener to proceed with his Tanger experience. The same can be said about the later Tiempo De Abril.

There are little changes to be expected with this album. It is one of their worse recordings. Of prog here, there are no traces. As usual a fine electric guitar throughout this Spanish rock album (Confusión y Realidad, Loco Por Tí). But this album holds too many love songs. I can imagine all these hands waving up in the air while the band is playing such ones during there live acts.

I have been very generous with the work from this band so far. But this album holds too many poor ballads; only a couple of songs are worth. One star.
