5 stars It would seem impossible for any band to release something worthy of standing side-by-side with the amazing 'The Devine Wings of Tragedy', but I think Symphony X do a grand job of it.

'Twilight in Olympus' doesn't really improve upon 'Divine Wings?', but I think it stands as a worthy equal to its predecessor. Musically and sonically it sounds pretty similar, although 'Twilight' does seem a lot tighter, intense, and confident.

The first half of this album is the true centerpiece here. Don't worry, the whole album is perfect from start to finish, but the first half, featuring tracks like 'Smoke and Mirrors' and 'In the Dragon's Den' show how Symphony X can out-metal any modern band, and 'Church of the Machine' and 'Through the Looking Glass' have got to be heard to be believed. No exaggeration.

As usual, the musicianship is the best you'll ever hear, and there is a lot of guitar/keyboard dueling between Michael Romeo and Michael Pinella, and as always, Russell Allen's vocals are a thing of beauty.

Overall, this is one of Symphony X's best albums (on the same level as 'Divine Wings?', and easily one of the best albums of the genre. Symphony X pull no punches this this one.
