2 stars I've always thought that Jefferson Airplane's records sounded badly recorded, and this selection of supposedly remastered tracks, taken from their 1992 boxed set does nothing to dispel that impression. The majority of the tracks sound like they are being played on a 1960's stereo, with the original phonograph needle. But enough of that.

The songs on this collection are a mixture of hits, alternate takes and live tracks. The idea was to give the listener a good sampling of what was in the boxed set. While the selections are not bad, there is very little prog, or proto prog. Lather sounds a bit like prog-folk, although it leans way more toward folk than prog. Watch Her Ride, 3/5 Mile In 10 Seconds and Law Man all have a vague proto prog feel (thing of the least proggy songs from Yes' debut maybe).

If you are really into Jefferson Airplane, get the boxed set. This is only for collectors.
