5 stars Time for another NIN review. If you liked The Downward Spiral and were eager for Reznor's next album, your life sucked. Why? Six years of complete silence, that's why. But even for such a long time, for pretty much everyone who bought the album, it was worth the wait.

The Fragile, like The Downward Spiral, is a concept album, revolving around things "falling apart" in a sense. It's a serious album, but unlike TDS, it doesn't fall into the state of uninteresting melodrama at times. No, this album is consistent, and, while still a serious object, is still enjoyable enough for background listening.

It's also long. Very long, even for a double album. It's so long, in fact, that it's hard to believe it can keep your attention the whole way through. It's engaging and moving, but never steps into the state of melodrama and annoyance.

Now, for the prog appeal. I can't GUARANTEE you'll love this album if prog is your favorite type of music, but if you're open-minded enough, I'm sure you'll cherish it soon enough.
