3 stars I will defer to the true BELIEVE fans for the more intimate reflections about this 3rd BELIEVE release. As a relative newcomer to Believe's music, I can only offer you what I gleaned from this recent purchase. I am not disappointed in making the purchase, the music is enjoyable. Sure there are some lyrical constructs that seem somewhat contrived, but that's OK. The musical compositions are good, there is a theatrical feel to much of it which should play well to a live audience. There is enough complexity to keep it interesting, and I like the consistent acoustic to electric transitions. Some thoughtful vocal arrangements, a very effective use of strings and a nice sprinkling of effects. A minimalist approach to much of the song-writing allows for some dynamic passages, so I think the band really had a musical plan in mind to tell the tale of this album.

I understand how musicians (and bands) often step into new territory, and try to create new musical imagery. It is part of what keeps the creative juices flowing and the bands together (or apart). So I applaud BELIEVE for what they are doing and where they hope to go next. If you enjoy Symphonic Prog, perhaps with a more subtle, almost melancholic edge - you will likely enjoy this CD. If you are a true BELIEVE believer, I cannot imagine you NOT wanting to own this, and while their 2nd release may remain their most well- received thus far, you should consider adding this one IF your progressive tastes aren't metal-driven. I give it 3 1/2 stars overall, but since the rating system doesn't allow for the 1/2 star, I will keep it conservative at 3. One final note: Excellent sound engineering.
