5 stars I didn't get this album the first time I heard it. I knew the song "Proclamation" from live versions, and already liked it. The studio version blows out all live versions I've heard so far. I think this is Gentle Giant's best song. After listening to this for a few years it became my favorite GG album and one of my favorite records of all time. It is full of dissonant, polyrythmic angular chops intertwined with medieval themes, twisted into a mad frantic masterpiece of progressive rock. There is no way I could possibly give this recording less than the full five stars. Why am I writing this review? Well partly because today I picked up the new remaster and am once again blown away by the quality of this release. The sound of the remaster makes all previous CD versions obsolete, and it has a snickety little booklet too. Enjoy...
