4 stars The debut that set the world on fire, and ushered in a whole new style of metal. It is a very rough around the edges, but in the same that blues has a very raw feel which helps the album instead of hinder it.

This album is mostly just good thrash-y songs with fast riffs and searing guitar solos, pounding drums, and big bass lines. There are a handful of almost prog like elments like the beginning of Phantom Lord with its very nice opening synth. Other good tracks are Cliff Burtons amazing bass solo that rivals a lot of lead guitarists out there, and it certaintly is a one of a kind thing that only Cliff, could really pull, as far as i am concerned. The rest of the tracks are jst good thrash metal.

A hugely influencial album for almost every Prog metal band. Good, but not something I can like as much as some later albums.
