4 stars Yowie is a band that operates firmly within the Math Rock genre, but has taken so many steps that it falls into more Avant Garde than say Tera Melos or Don Caballero. The music is utterly unforgiving for anyone who is not interested in challenging music, or someone who is trying to get into this genre slowly and become accustomed to it.

The running time for this record, 29:57, is extremely short compared to most things on vinyl even. This could be a good or bad thing depending on how you take this record. I love challening Prog, and this band delivers immensely.

All the songs are super hyper, just falling short of Hella's insanity. All the muscians are top notch and crank out super technical beats, that make you wonder just how people can be so technical. The guitars screech and wail, and the drums are heavy and unrelenting, not quite Zach Hill, but just below, with there being a very jazzy feel to the drums at times. There also being no bassist here does not take away from the music at all.

While this music is in no way original, that has never stopped me from loving a record.
