1791 Overture
2 stars As with Aquarias, we have a chunk of derivative modern prog, busy and metallic in its arrangements, elongated without being developed, and ultimately boring in spite of (because of?) its bombast. The song structures are enormously indebted to Dream Theater, especially the vocal phrasing and instrumental sections. This influence is in fact so dominating that it becomes suffocating - I see some reviewers disavowing this similarity, to which I can only ask in response whether or not they were listening to the album. Everyone in the band can play, and the vocalist, in spite of his obvious James LaBrie influence, has a somewhat unique timbre and good control over his abilities. The songs, unfortunately, are largely cut-paste with little interesting to offer.

Two stars.
