1 stars I can learn to resist... anything but wasting money on Rush

Is 'Test for Echo' their worst studio album to date? It's certainly a contender. A straightforward soft rock effort, plagued with filler and lacking even the slightest morsel of innovation. Whilst that could be argued for a lot of Rush's '90s material, at least the other albums were (generally) filled with great songs. The only tracks that make this even slightly worth listening to are Driven, Half the World and Resist.

There really isn't much more to be said about this other than it was the band's final release before their unfortunate hiatus. Whilst the follow up 'Vapor Trails' had problems of its own, it's still a relief that 'Test for Echo' wasn't the final thing Rush were remembered by.

The Verdict: A very appropriate title.
