LIFE'S ROAD

I really don't know what makes sense to try to play like it was usual in the 70 years, but virtually without attempting to enrich the music and shift it to a higher level. That's probably a sort of vogue, oddly enough, particularly in Scandinavia, where swarmed many bands such as Anti- Depressive Delivery, Black Bonzo, Burning Saviours, Siena Root, or the fresh project Three Seasons. For some reason these bands are classified as Heavy Prog, though they often sound like pure Hard Rock, with all its attributes: the songs (mostly individual, without any concept) are often based on an expressive guitar riff, which is supported by strong rhythmic. Everything is seasoned with necessary keyboards (mostly represented by Hammond organ) and occasional wind instruments: flute or (lesser) saxophone. A strong melodic vocals are quite essential, often singing at heights, or even falsetto.

So, it's also the case of debut album of the latter Swedish trio Three Seasons, entitled Life's Road. There are quite solid music; but that would have been simply overshadowed in the 70th years in the competition of such masters like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Grand Funk, etc., in my opinion ...

I think it's not worth to discuss of each song in detail, due their certain uniformity. Perhaps it is necessary to highlight the ten-minute instrumental "An Endless Delusion", which is really pleasant change of the overall monotony of the album, with really beautiful melancholy tune, played on organ.

So: I give one star for the solid production, the second for excellent instrumentation and the third just for the above-mentioned "candy". Maybe if the album would been finished by this piece, I thought as well as a higher valuation. Unfortunately, the following three songs are quite long, and also even weaker. Therefore, let remains at three stars.
