4 stars A welcome addition to any serious Zappa collection. This release fills in a curious blank spot in the catalog. For whatever reason this period was completely left off the "You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore" series. Anyone who likes "Waka Jawaka" and "Grand Wazoo" will want this, as this is the only live material from this period ever released officially. The sound quality is fairly good. Some of the solos go on too long (particularly one trombone solo), but it's great instrumental jazz-influenced Zappa. There is some interesting "conceptual continuity". "Rollo" is an instrumental version of the ending of the live "Yellow Snow" suite on YCTDOSA Vol. 1. The theme of "Farther Oblivion" was used, with vocals added, in the middle of "Greggary Peccary".
