5 stars Less is more.

Less grindcore to be exact. Whourkr's sophomore effort Concrete sees that band losing many of the grindcore elements, such as the grindcore styled vocals, and less of a grindcore stye of riffing and blastbeating. The by I Snorr remind of some of Mike Patton's more extreme vocal duties, such as in Fantomas. There also is much more electronic tweakings to the music, than in Naat.

Compositionally, Whourkr has much improved over Naat, with much more engaging songs, and the Avante-garde-ness is betr implented into the songs, instead of being tacked on at the end, like on Naat, mainly the glitched orchestral playing. There is also much more diverse experi8mentation than on Naat, such as the opening to Santo, which has an operatic voice booming out the track name.

Concrete is an essential album to Avant-Metal, or anyone with a taste for the strange. Perfect album, from start to finish
