4 stars Alomoni 1985 was once a long lost artifact from underground Japan, thankfully to be re released on Paradigm Discs in 1998 limited to 500 hand number copies; originally release privately by Voice records around 1976. Paradigm Discs in 1998. Very little bibliographical information exists about the group; both band members and production information remain unknown. Around the same time (75) the group released another album, Debon, as Brast Burn that acts as a perfect companion to Alomoni 1985.

Although hailing from Japan a large chunk of their influences are drawn from Krautrock, with telltale signs from Faust, Guru Guru and Can, alongside the gritty blues of Hapshash & The Coloured Coat. Enigmatic and downright dirty they find comfortable comparisons to brethren fuzzy garage psych legends Les Rallizes Denudes. The hysterical vocals pay legacy to Damo Suzuki at his finest, not to undermine the raw, primitive bluesy engine powering the bands unique sound. Chuck in some tape manipulations, mouth organ, electrifying jams, to boot, and you have a rhythmic entity larger than Gene Simmons boots.

Just shy of 50 minutes, the two tracks will leave you strung out pleading for your sanity back. Hypnotic and rhythmic, but surprisingly without a crashing of drums in sight, the album is down right addictive. I find it so easy kick back for a lazy afternoon with this disc on repeat. Despite the repetitive nature, it remains fresh, in the same fashion the Swedish psych scene draws you into their fold the more intently you listen, or Pharaoh Overlord pounding out the same crushing rift for 20mins a piece still remains titillating

Being one of my first Japanese records this one holds a dear place in my heart.
