being a metalhead, my only 'touch' with jazz/fusion was bands like 'Atheist'.. after discovering prog metal and then prog rock about twelve years ago, i managed to appreciate this genre via bands/artists like Return To Forevel, Miles Davis, Roberta Flack, Billy Cobham, Brand X etc..

even though, i can't say i have become a jazz prog specialist, one thing i know is that this album, along with 'Spectrum' by Cobham (Tommy Bolin rules..) blows my mind... it's the unique way these musicians approach McLaughlin's ideas, it's their flowing talent, it's their spontaneity, it's everything in it that makes this album essential to all music fans', in general, collection...
