3 stars The first album I heard from this band was Spiderland. It was recommended to me by my local recordstore. At first I wasn't that impressed but after while the album stuck to me and now i think it is one of the best albums ever. Anyway, see my review for that one.

When i started to liek Spiderland i bought this one, expecting the same brilliance. Unfortunately, I was dissapointed. This album really lacks the subtlety of Spiderland. To me it sounds more like an improvised study then a collection of songs. It is not bad, not bad at all, but I just cannot get touched by this one. I really think Slint wasn't ready to make an album when they recorded this. It is not a mature band, not mature songwriting.

So if you do not know Slint, start with Spiderland, which is actually the only essential piece of this band. To complete your collection get this one. It is interesting, but in no comparison to the masterpiece Spiderland.
