4 stars I know this album has been reviewed to death on here but I thought I would put my two cents in anyway. I just played this cd for the first time today and I was a bit surprised when I finally heard it. Surprised in a good way though. It's a very crazy album that almost seems to play as one whole piece as it seems that the tracks sort of flow into one another but I only heard it once so I could be missing something here and need to hear it again to be sure. Anyway, this is one crazy disc. The vocals might at times be irritating for some but didn't bother me much at all. THe music seems to go through different moods and shifts a bit from intense to pastoral to spacey etc. Personally, I don't hear much punk influence at all except that it does have the same kind of intensity and unrelentless kind of attitude that is in much punk. Some say this isn't prog but guess what? I would not call this alternative or punk. To my ears this is definitely prog but with a very contemporary indie kind of twist. I would even say that in some ways this reminded me of a sort of modern take on Van Der Graaf Generator(at least at times)but is even more twisted and intense than those guys for the most part and that's saying something. A very good but very wild and "out there" kind of disc. Highly recommended especially to the more adventurous listeners out there.
