4 stars Another collection of expansive symphonic prog compositions from Nemo, Barbares is a pleasant and capable example of the form. I was surprised to double-check the track list to see that the closing title track is a full 25 minutes long, because it feels much shorter - a sure sign of a composition which genuinely merits its length and isn't outstaying its welcome or padding its running time out with useless filler. If you liked previous albums by Nemo like the Si Partie series, it's a worthwhile listen, though I think matters are a little bit less theatrical this time around, and the folk and jazz elements which worm their way in here and there makes this feel like an original and interesting contribution to the genre.
