2 stars As a hardcore, and I mean hardcore ELP fan I would rather do many things then give one of their albums 2 stars but...The opening track is decent...most of the rest just plain suck. There are a few decent moments on some of the others, not enough to make them good. Cmon...please ELP, you produced AMAZING MUSIC. This is backshelf pop. On the other hand, I really do think the new "pictures" is quite good, Gnomus in particular, that track is better then the original. The Hut of Baba Yaga has a little double kick and kinda reminds me of Metallica...lol. Its good though. Where is Keiths awesome playing? Gregs voice is nowhere close to his absolutely incredible velvet voice on "Works Volume 1" And even good old dependable Carl has opted for bad sounding drums and doesnt play the good precision laden patterns he once played. If not for "Pictures" this album would have no value at all. If you are a fan, it might be a good idea to pick this one up to complete your collection, not that you'll listen to it much. If your just a non serious fan, dont even think about it. Comparing this to Love Beach is like comparing N'sync to Brain Salad Surgery. Its too bad really...
