3 stars Oh my. Another Iron Maiden live album !!

This is the soundtrack to the movie (DVD) with the same name. The songs are from different shows. The live feeling is good throughout. The same can be said about the sound. This is not another overpolished live album. The music is flawless. I do not think anyone disagree with me that Iron Maiden has been one of the best live acts during the last two years. This album and the DVD proves that. But do we really need another live album from Iron Maiden ?

The material is mostly from the 1980s and 50 % of it has been covered by the classic "Live After Death" album. The opening two songs (Aces High and 2 Minutes) on this album and that album is the same. Off course I have to compare..... and declare "Live After Death" as the winner. The same goes for the rest of the songs. Powerslave has lost a good guitar solo in the translation. Rime Of The Ancient Mariner is excellent though. But the standard is still very high. It is just that this soundtrack comes a bit short compared to their best ever live album. The rest of the songs are good too. The word "good" describe this soundtrack.

But this is a soundtrack we do not need whatsoever. The music is good though. But I cannot see any use for this album whatsoever. Frisbee ? Nope, the CDs has some sharp edges and it will cut hands to shreds and probably give the catcher some nasty infections. Possibly amputations of fingers (thumbs) or hands, too. Don't even think about it. Another useful idea is to use it as beer mats or coffe mats. But for this price........ Nope.

The music is good. Actually, make that excellent. But the idea is pretty bad. I will stick to "Live After Death", "Rock In Rio" and "Death On The Road". This album will only collect dust in my record collection.
