An eclectic psychedelia with dark, stoner, bluesy, and poppy sounds.

Yes my wife and kid shuddered with fear of their sound, with the first listening to the beginning of the first track Smokes. Joking aside, it's absolutely natural for me to be shocked and amazed at the dark sounds as if fragile glasses have broken down in the dark space. Following that, heavily percussive sounds with droning guitar solo and sly and lazy voices get started with comfort. This trailing and echoic style reminds me that they were born in a Parisian cellar underground - the sounds (of the other tracks as well) could be produced by terribly fungous smell and uncomfortably moist air, and especially their aggressive activity slashing their musical way through the underbrush. Such an atmosphere can be heard on Natural Born or the next Hurricane Fighter Plane, of dark'n'eavy guitars and voices like casting spells on us. Of course, not only this song - a great rock and roll is the third track Four Four, included on their first EP - blended with cheerful tones and flat voices without any drive (sorry!), this song goes psychedelically matured. As far as stoner stuffs, the second track Clostrophobia and the seventh K9 Itch (whick part can you feel itchy with listening to this song?) exactly typical in my opinion. Discharging anti-driving much-droning loud guitar, heavy rhythm, freaky voices...all of them are gone away into "another" world. What can I call without calling this as "stoner psych"? Bist Du Korrect smells persistently Oriental flavour under the heavy shout by all instruments, and a while later the sounds pick up speed for invading into our brain through our ears. Mamma mia, our ears should be broken away at the end of the song, maybe. :-P The last long suite Psychotic Sunday can be called as "the compilation" with all the essence of ONE SWITCH TO COLLISION. Weird shout and whisper, fuzzy guitar noises, eerily quiet drums, spacey synth sounds, sticky repetitions of the keyboard play - all "switches" should lead us to exploded "collision".

Consisting of a multinational compound of members hailing from Germany, France, UK and Afghanistan ONE SWITCH TO COLLISION play an interesting blend of space, kraut and garage/stoner rock which I've never heard before in this way. Took enough time to take this in ... and want to weight this album a big hit in the meanwhile even though this is not 100% prog all the way through. They spent some time in Paris and there is some friendship/relationship with a special French band. You can smell it here and there ... although Turzi are closer to the electronic krautrock fields in the end. ONE SWITCH TO COLLISION are more of a classic guitar rock band, however they provide an impressing variation of styles as mentioned before.

Smokes immediately gives you the right impression ... starting cosmic with synths and spacey guitar but then changing to a typical krautrock behaviour and later reaching for a rather straightforward garage drive - however this is decorated with swirling synths and fuzzy guitars in between. And when someone may think such a mixture must sound weird and crude over the course - NO! This is well structured, you even won't miss melody and atmosphere. Every song has its own character and charm. Clostrophobia and Four Four are longing back to 60's flower pop psych where Bist du korrekt? fades to an intriguing space rock trance easily following PF's Ummagumma live spirit, wonderful ... and then suddenly it all changes to a Can respecively NEU! drive decorated with sawing guitars on top of it.

Now this may give an impression about the experimental approach and the extended Psychotic Sunday finally can claim the crown for some reasons. Hallucinogenic or psychotic ... probably sharing the dangerous balancing act when using some sort of drugs. This song is a fascinating trancy excursion ... so all in all here we have an entertaining, partially even obscure album which deserves four stars.
