2 stars For no one

The title is taken from bands which the BJH members were in prior to forming BJH. That however is slightly misleading, as the tracks here are all from their later Polydor label output. This collection is a fairly hotchpotch mix, lacking both focus and continuity. The tracks appear to have been randomly thrown together and represent neither the best of the band nor an interesting collection of rarities. Three of the tracks are live versions for no obvious reason.

There are some good tracks, such as "The song (they love to sing)" "Poor man's moody blues", and "Suicide". Others however are only average BJH offerings and the inclusion of "Poor boy blues" without "Mill boys" and "For no one" which completed the trilogy makes no sense at all.

As an aside, "Titles", a pastiche of Beatles song titles and melodies, has the interesting song writing credit of "Traditional".

There are many BJH compilations available, this is by no means the best of them.
