PROG REVIEWER
4 stars Xavier Boscher is one of those "one man band" wizards our beloved progworld has quite a lot of. And I have to say I have a soft spot for those loners doing it all by themselves. Sometimes it leads to artificial drumming and other almost fake sounding instrumentation but still it's always an accomplishment to produce such an album on your own. And if it sounds like Boscher's latest I think it deserves appreciation.

His style can best be described as a softer sounding Joe Satriani albeit more jazzy at times and also more complex and proggy than Joe who is more mainstream usually. One of the proggier tracks is Plexilight where Xavier hits the odd tune more than once. Most of the other tracks are straightforward melodic yet pretty inventive most of the time.

I don't know his other work at this point, I'll probably check it out soon because I really like this style. Even though Love Energy probably is a three star album all things considered (for instance it's not prog with a capital P so to speak) I will still grant the album the four stars because a rating is also personal and my preference qua taste forces me to do so. So four it is but it's rounded up from 3,7. Recommended for lovers of laid back guitar music.
