4 stars After the two grounbreaking releases by LIQUID TENSION EXPERIMENT many rock/metal bands have chosen the same path of the instrumental prog metal category...PARALLAXE could be considered as a band that belongs in the same wave as their very good eponymous debut is heavily influenced by the works of LTE...But this time some things go far away from that...

The album starts with the excellent ''Acousmatique'' which opens with some keyboard electronic music and heavy guitars after that,it continues with tremendous bass lines by the middle of the track and finishes with a jazz inpired section...What a great start!''Paradoxe'' is an instrumental rather speed track which comes as a cross between DREAM THEATER and technical FATES WARNING!''In Extremis'' is a very original track, mellow for most of its time, with some themes that bring movie soundtracks to mind...Very nice...''Y2K'' is the most LTE influenced track,a very good one, which easily could be part of a LTE album...''BWV Fantaise'' comes next,it goes in the same vein as ''Y2K'' but this time the band shows his classical music admiration with the superb ending section! And last but not least ''Indian'',the epic of the album, which contains all the above mentioned ingredients, heavy influences by LTE's complexity, jazz sections, pure metal,effects,soundtrack-like themes and symphonic passages!

I was really surprised with this album as PARALLAXE are an unknown bans for me...But I assure that you will have to deal with some stunning yet half-original musicianship here...I'll spread their name undoubtfully, you should too...Check them' out...This guys gain 4 stars from me!

3 stars Parallaxe from France is a progressive jazz fusion metal band with 2 albums released so far. This band as many from that period and after embrace this style of music after the groundbreaking succes of LTE 1 and 2. Even thy had a style of their own Parallaxe are style quite influnce by bands from this realm. First album issued in 2003 self titled is a good example of complex and complicated pieces, all 6 tracks are good for sure, but overall something is missing, is to much wankary for my taste. The album is all instrumental, the musicians for sure know to handle the instruments very well, but is not enough. Excellent is the guitar parts, Alex Andrini manage to create some spectacular moments, remind me of LTE or other guitarists from this type of music. So, all in all a fairly decent album, with good compositions, but is not a masterpice, at least for my ears. 3 stars
