2 stars Maybe not the best way to start my Boredoms listening career this one... this is their 2nd release on what would become their long established Super Roots series.

This EP (about 6 minutes in length) is varied, yet quirky and weird, in typical Boredoms style. The best track on the album is White Plastic See-Thru Finger, which has a jarring and spasmodic guitar sound reminiscent of Fred Frith in many respects; this tune is punky and raw yet actually listenable too. The rest of the material here is throwaway, ranging from just random shouting, to random noises, but to those Boredom completionists, I am sure they will find something of worth here (or maybe not!).

As for me, I would not recommend this particular release to anyone who does not already know Boredoms. I would start your Boredoms journey with a full-length album, such as Vision Creation Newsun or even Pop Tatari, if you want to hear earlier noise-orientated Boredoms. Their sound has changed over the years, so their more recent albums also maybe more to your tastes, especially as they draw more on their Krautrock influences.

As the release information says, this release came with Chocolate Synthesizer via Mail Order back in 1994.

2/5 and definitely only for collectors and fans.

2 stars I'm with James on this Boredom release. There isn't much here that can be recommended, even to Boredoms fans, as most of these songs are extremely random, even for Boredoms. The songs Sexy Boredoms, Magic Milk, and Boxodus are pretty bad and more less completely random noises, they seem to have, similar to songs on the Chocolate Synthesizer album, arranged them in the most annoying way possible. While sometimes this can make for a interesting listen, here it does not. The other songs, Go Come Uparks and White Plastic See-Thru Finger are recognizable as songs, but only Go Come Uparks reaches the greatness of the crazy songs off their studio albums, with it's quirky almost tribal sounding beats and "vocals". White Plastic Finger is a rather forgettable song that seems like it was a song recorded for a studio album, but didn't make the cut. Which seems to be the case with most of these songs, save Uparks.

Not something I can really reccomend, even to fans of Boredoms, so stay away. The only saving grace here is the song Uparks, which might make this worthwhile to some, but not most people.
