Review by Guillermo
2 stars After John Lennon`s death, there was a revival of almost everything that could be sold about the band members. In my country, every Beatles`album received a re-issue, and even some of the early solo albums by Lennon, which have been here out of print for several years (Live Peace in Toronto and even the controversial Some Time in New York City album) were again available in the record shops in my city. Books about the band (some good, others not so good), and finally, a FM Radio programme series called The History of The Beatles, which probably was originally made in a foreign country but was narrated in Spanish, which was broadcasted at least twice: in December 1981 and in December the following year. This Radio series was in fact very good. I learned a lot about the band`s history, and that was the time when I first knew about the existence and I listened to each one of these special Fan Club Flexible Discs which the band recorded every year since 1963 to 1969. I remember that I recorded several of them in cassettes which now don`t work anymore. But I can remember very well the main melody of Christmas Time (Is Here Again), the main song in this 1967 Beatles Christmas Flexi-disc: a simple song (credited to the four members) played with piano, acoustic guitars and drums and sung by themselves. The other parts of this disc had a narration of a story which had several parts on which the band members said jokes, did false voices, laughed, and sang out of tune, having a funny time themselves. This was in fact their last Christmas disc that they recorded together, because in 1968 and in 1969 they recorded their parts separatedly. These Flexi-discs were compiled in late 1970 and were released in a LP under the Apple Records label, called From Then to Us or something like that. For collectors / fans only.
