THE COMING OF GENOCIDE

Ulcerate´s music is at its core brutal death metal with growling vocals but on later releases they have added progressive elements to their sound. The music on The Coming of Genocide shows a band in their early stages trying to find their own sound. Ulcerate have wisely put the four songs from the The Coming of Genocide demo first on the compilation as those are the strongest tracks on The Coming of Genocide but the last four tracks which come from the Ulcerate demo are pretty strong too and doesn´t bring the quality down much.

The sound quality is very good. It´s profesional and powerful. The sound is best on the first four songs but it´s not notably worse on the last four.

Overall this compilation is a great way to get access to the early recordings by Ulcerate. The music is not very progressive but it´s powerful, well played and fully shows how talented a band Ulcerate were already this early in their career. A 3 star rating is deserved.
