3 stars Joe Nardulli, as I expected is an unknown musician coming from New York - USA. He begun his career somewhere around late '90s as guitarist releasing his first and only album under his name in 2003. Inspired by guitarists as Page, Satriani , Steve Morse or those from metal/ fusion style he infuses in this album lots of there trademark but aswell melted with his own ideas. The result is pretty much ok most of the time, Nardulli plays almost everything is heared on this selftitled album, guitars, programming , with on one piece a helping hand from Carl Roa on guitar. The music is very much in Satriani direction with a clear prog metal/fusion arrangements, his technique is ok, nothing groundbreaking but more then ok. The music is fluent has catchy guitar parts and inspired solos, what I don't like is the drum programming, it sounds flat and without many contrasts or diversity, on almost every tune the drums sounds the same. NY Drama, Glowing glass or Ad Astra Per Aspera, a name that eventualy he will use to form his prog metal band later on named Ad Astra with one album released in summer of 2008. Ok, a pleasent album, nothing is over the top, but enjoyble if you like instumental guitar oriented prog metal/ fusion albums. 3 stars for sure maybe 3.5 in places.
