4 stars The third and last (up to now) soundtrack composed by Angelo Branduardi is surely the best of the three. Maybe because the movie plot is more dramatic than the previous two (I know the story but I haven't seen any of the three). It's about the days immediately after the crucifixion when Pilate meets the resurrected Christ and is present when he ascends to heaven.

This plot gives Angelo the possibility to add middle-eastern elements to his music, something that he has already done in the past as "Alla Fiera Dell'Est" is based on a Hebrew traditional carol.

The album is quite short, less than 30 minutes, but this means that there are no fillers and all the music inside is at an excellent level. Apart of the first track, all the rest is instrumental and full of violin that's Angelo's principal instrument.

So even without taking care to the movie you can take a mental journey to the middle-east with the music inspiring sometimes a dramatic situation, but more often the laziness of a hot summer day.

One of the best things released by Branduardi in the 80s, just after the excellent "Branduardi Canta Yeats" Also one of the most progressive albums of this modern minstrel.

An excellent soundtrack for whom is so lucky to find a copy. I think it was actually released in vinyl only and I'm not aware of reprints on CD.
