Battlefields biography
BATTLEFIELDS is a progressive experimental/post-metal band born in Minnesota, United States.

The music they play can best be categorized as post-metal, in the same vein as bands like NEUROSIS. The doom, atmospheric elements painted with a gray-dark musical palette and with slow, gloomy, heavily pesimistic rhythms are characteristical of their sound. The slow, pensive movements, leading to cataclysmic, exploding climaxes, build tension and make for a very emotional listening experience.

While the core of the music lies in the instrumental sections, BATTLEFIELDS also features vocals, both in high-and-low growling styles. The vocals only add to the sense of desolation that the music conveys.

BATTLEFIELDS line-up is formed by Rusty Steele in vocals, Andrew Wallin in guitar, Matt Ricigliano in guitar, Ryan Cofer in bass and Rob Schmidt in drums.

In 2006 they released their first full-length, "Stained with the Blood of an Empire". The album received great praise from the specialized press.

In 2007 they're scheduled to release a new EP called "Entourage of the Archaic".

Why this artist must be listed in www.progarchives.com :
BATTLEFIELDS' music is unique and original, extreme and atmospheric, simple yet complex, in the same style of the nest known post-metal masters. The Prog-metal team of collaborators agreed on their inclusion.

Review by tommyriff

1 stars Soo long and boring, my friend burned me a copy and it was almost funny how long and boring it was. i kept waiting for something cool to happen, and next thing i know it was an hour later and the cd was over. dont get me wrong, im glad it was over. Dont waste your money on this. its sounds terrible. It sounds like a poorly recorded demo. Not sure about this style of music anymore either. Its fading fast. Its the new emo. Doom is a good word for this genre, because its doomed. Much like the chances of this band going too far.
Thanks to The T for the artist addition.
