Experimental biography
EXPERIMENTALL is a Chilean modern band, formed in September 1999, whose musical direction and sound can easily be extracted from the ensemble's so-called "light music-making philosophy": from the beginning, the initial trio (Andr�s Moraga on stick, sequences, sampling, voice and Jorge Alvarez, together with Rodrigo Sep�lveda, playing both guitars) searched deep in order to master a usual, but attractive concept in which distinct atmospheres are converged with sound-based essences, and elements of electronic and/or ethnic rock are incorporated overall. Based on the tight instrumentality, but taking in account the wide yet not diffuse range of style, the modern, complex or purely "experimental" sense in their music is assured and can be fully understood. They're influenced by KING CRIMSON, David SYLVIAN, Robert FRIPP, Michael BROOKS, TOOL, Trey GUNN, TALK-TALK or NO-MAN, others.

The debut was conceived in 2000, being simply called Experimental. With it, the band's original conception improved together with the wish of providing a completely scenic show, which expresses a world of sensibility, new-music and special measures. Both inside the studio sessions and out in the world - as proven by concerts that followed immediately after. The trio participates in different, as much as diverse, concerts and festivals, getting close to the modern scene of Progressive Rock. The press and radio also starts noticing and commenting the band's work, in a favorable way, around that important, if not vital, period.

Towards the end of the 2001, Rodrigo Sep�lveda leaves the band, out of personal reasons.

The work on the second album ends in 2002, the original duo being left to finish it completely. It was titled Dos Mentes. With this second musical expression, signs of evolution appear in sound and musicality, melding into a work so solid and proper, it's quite normally considered a fully forward step done by Experimentall. Complementing this studio achievement, just like two years ago, the duo engages further with their appearances in Prog Rock Festivals, as well as through concerts inside the Chilean stage, such an example being the concert held at "Teatro Providencia y Sala scd". Still, this heavy year concludes with another easy recoil, due (again) to personal issues.

In 2003, EXPERIMENTALL are back in line, bringing new forces and ideas; the formation returns to the strength of a trio, drummer Julio Andr�s Vilches being introduced. With a third wrap of new, fresh ideas, that polish the well-known - so far - music code and sense of composing, but also finally allow an extension into modern jazz(y)(-rock), EXPERIMENTALL release Planeta, a work started in 2003, but finished one year later. 2004 will also be, as expected, an year of concerts and promoting, the trio even rewinding back to all their three albums so far or, in total, to their six years of intense work.

During the next three years, though, the band's activity sadly stops. By this current year (2008), EXPERIMENTALL kept its trio format intact, only with Vilches picking the taste for some electronic mastering besides his usual acoustic drumming; though the band officially calls this period "an year of regression", it only means they are taking another look back to the previous stuff, while preparing new versions as well.

Known for sure inside the Chilean Prog Rock stage, EXPERIMENTALL deserve - by now - to be discovered worldwide as well. The modern fire of the music can perhaps surprise less, still it provides a good experience of prog rock with electronic/improvisatorial mutations, one that the band has managed to express it, shall we say, in their own best way.
