Cannata biography
Jeff CANNATA is a US artist who's been active as a musician since the late 60's, first in progressie rock act Jasper Wrath, and in the early 80's with hard rock outfit Arc Angel. At first a drummer, he has later added guitars and synths to his instrument repertoire.

In the second half of the 80's Cannata was signed to Carrere Records, and in 1988 his first solo album was issued under the Cannata moniker - "Images of Forever".

In the early 90's Now and Then Records approach Cannata and signs him to release a sophomore effort, issued in 1993 as "Watching the World".

It will take 9 years before more the next album appears, but in 2002 "Tamorok" is released, a production containing new material as well as previously released tracks from his solo career as well as tracks from his hard rock outfit Arc Angel.

In 2006 "Mysterium Magnus" is made available, 13 years after his last creation containing all new material; and late in 2008 "My Back Pages" is issued, an album with cover versions of songs from the 60's mostly - all of them by artists that have been an inspiration for Cannata as a musician.

3 stars Jeff Cannata is an american musician beggining his solo career in late '80's. Before thent he was part in late'60 of jasper Wrath and in the '80's with Arc Angel. First album issued under his name was in 1988, followed up by second release in 1993 named Watching the world. I will talk about this second album in short sentences. I was little confused when I've heared this album, because I expected something else, I mean I know he combines in good measure progressive elements with AOR, but this time , at least on this release, is too much AOR and almost non of the progressive elements I've expected are present. It sounds like a cross between Asia and late'80's hard rock sound in parts. Ok, notbad, but some pieces are almost unintristing to say at least, AOR without any capturing moments. Two pieces stands as best here, Take Me Over and Over the line, excellent songwritting, great atmosphere, what else great pieces, the rest are ok but nothing realy exciting. Don't be fooled by the cover art, to think will be a serious progressive rock album, is clearly an AOR release and nothing more, his keybords are rather most of the time only an instrument like others here, not some solos or something worth investigated. Not bad, but nothing to talk about either, still worth 3 stars.
Thanks to windhawk for the artist addition.
