Empyrean Sky biography
Empyrean Sky is an eclectic progressive death metal band from Chicago, Illinois, USA. Originating in 1997, the band centers on a 3 guitar attack and combining various genres and emotions a la Opeth. Their self-named ?Storm Core? style draws on classical, jazz, thrash, and death metal, but fits most clearly in the melodic death metal camp. The band employs harsh vocals alternating with clean melodies from bandleader John Welborn who combines duties for voice, guitar, drum programming, and production. Their first album, THE SNOW WHITE ROSE OF PARADISE, was released in 2004 and a second, EXTENDING THE TANGENT, is currently in production. Their ambitious and epic compositional style, along with their blending of multiple styles, makes them a perfect fit for ProgArchives.
